Portrayal of what the spirit supposedly looks like
|
The edoem mortem spiritus (Latin, meaning same death spirit) is a legend handed down through Roman mythology. The spirit comes and appears in its victim's dreams. Eventually the victim's die, supposedly in the same way the spirit did. From reports written down by palm readers in Roman history, the time of death after the first sighting of the spirit was usually within seven to ten days. Despite it being only a legend, many ghost "hunters" still hope to catch a glimpse of the spirit. As of now, this spirit is the most recorded phenomenon. Scientists chalk it up to ergot alkaloids (the main ingredient in LSD) accidentally getting into cereal and grain products.
